JC Brows FAQ
THE ANSWERS YOU NEED

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING AND NANO BROWS?

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo mimicking hair-like strokes with a disposable manual blade. Nano brows is also a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo mimicking hair-like strokes. However with nano brows, a tattoo machine is used to achieve a more feathery style. Microblading is best for dry to normal skin types. Nano brows is more flexible to work on different skin types. Both can be completed with beautiful natural results.

WHAT IS OMBRE POWDER BROWS?

Ombre Powder brows is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that will provide a makeup-like appearance. A tattoo machine is used to shade in the proper pigment into the epidermis/dermis layer of the skin. Ombre style provides darker tail that lightens towards the front of the brows.

WHAT IS MICROSHADING?

Microshading is the combination of hair-like strokes (microblading/nano) and shading (powder). This style can be completed both naturally or more bold.

WHAT IS LIP BLUSH?

Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic lip tattoo using a tattoo machine. The lips are first shaped to improve symmetry and then shaded in with the desired pigment.

WHAT IS SMP (SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION)?

SMP is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo for hair loss or hair thinning. Dots of pigment is deposited into the scalp with a tattoo machine mimicking the appearance of hair follicles. The results will provide an illusion of thicker fuller hair.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Brows = 1-3 years
Lips = 2-3 years
Scalp = 3-6 years

Different factors such as aftercare, lifestyle, skin type, immune system, and skincare will effect the longevity of the permanent makeup. Sunblock is encouraged for longer lasting results. Fading will occur so annual refreshers are recommended and provided at a lower cost.

DOES IT HURT?

Everyone has a different level of sensitivity and pain tolerance. Topical anesthetic is applied both before and during the procedure. Minimal discomfort is expected. Clients have been satisfied with the numbing cream used at JC Brows and have even fallen asleep. (yes lip clients as well)

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

Each procedure takes about 3 hours to complete. Touch ups will typically take up to 2 hours. Please allow the proper timeframe for your appointment.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER THE PROCEDURE? WILL I BE ABLE TO GO IN TO WORK?

Brows = Healing will typically take 7-14 days with no major down time. You can continue your normal schedule with the exception of a few things (read care section). The first few days they will appear darker. They will begin to scab on the 3rd to 4th day. Scabbing intensity levels differ from person to person. The brows will appear patchy during shedding of the scabs. They will heal up to 30% lighter and thinner after the initial appointment. It is a two-step process. 6-12 week touch-up appointment is the perfecting session.

Lips = Healing will take about 5-7 days with no major down time. Regular daily activities is completely okay with a few exceptions (read care section). Lips will appear darker and begin to peel. The lips will appear lighter on the inner areas during healing. The color will fade up to 50% as it heals. Lip blush is a two-step process. 6-12 week touch up is the perfecting session. (Color correction clients may need extra sessions)

SMP = Scalp will be a little dry and itchy. Healing will take 7-10 days. Regular daily activities may continue as normal with a few exceptions (read care section). The treated area may temporarily appear slightly red which is completely normal. SMP will lighten as it heals. 3-4 sessions is encouraged to achieve the desired results.

WILL YOU SHAVE OFF MY EYEBROW HAIRS?

Your brows will stay intact. Only extra hairs outside of the new shape will be shaved (with permission). The goal is to keep as much of your natural brow hairs intact with the new shape, while improving symmetry.

CAN I WEAR MAKEUP OVER THE PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Definitely. Once healing is complete you are welcome to apply makeup.
